My experience: listening and speaking can be on two tracks

Listening skills can be gained by watching news, TV advertisements adn shows. But, speaking skill cannot be gained that way. Speaking skills need a solid phonetic skills to start. Later, you need to increase your vocabularies so that you can talk with other people. Knowing words is different to having words used in your speech. When we listen to others' speech, we can guess the meaning of words and phases from the context. But, when we use words for our own speech, we need to know the eact meaning and usage. Also, the time to reaction is short when you speak than you listen. When you gain basic skills of speaking, you need to organize your speech for the effectiveness. Speaking skill is much harder to improve than listening skill.
