Story of Charlie Brown

Couple of weeks ago, Matt, a coworker, told me the story of Charlie Brown:

Charlie Brown was the perennial "loser." Sure, his intentions were good, but he somehow always ended up on the losing end of any event.

Take his experiences with his neighborhood baseball team. The score is 3 to 2. It's the ninth inning, Charlie Brown's team is batting and the bases are loaded. Charlie Brown is up to bat.He only needs to hit a single to tie the game. But a double would win the game.

And he knows this. He keeps telling himself as he's standing there, "I can be the hero or I can be the scapegoat."

He doesn't hit a double to win the game -- not even a single to tie the score to keep his team alive. Scapegoat again!

He's never the hero, is he? Always the scapegoat.

Is that how you're beginning to feel about your efforts?
