“We are all broken. That's how the light gets in” is a combination of quotes from Ernest Hemingway and Leonard Cohen that conveys the idea that: We all experience pain and emotional fractures; We all experience setbacks, losses, and illnesses; We all live through relationships that are less than unconditionally loving. There is hope despite flaws, and light can get in through the cracks. We can be strong at the broken places.
To avoid misquote (that is, by dear Google ;-), here are the two beautiful originals:
"If people bring so much courage to this world the world has to kill them to break them, so of course it kills them. The world breaks everyone and afterward many are strong at the broken places. But those that will not break it kills. It kills the very good and the very gentle and the very brave impartially. If you are none of these you can be sure it will kill you too but there will be no special hurry."
- Ernest Hemingway, "A Farewell to Arms"
"Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack, a crack in everything
That’s how the light gets in."
- Leonard Cohen, “Anthem” (song)

My take: none of us are perfect and we all have been broken in our lives one way or another. The important thing is to keep being positive, to let the light (== hope) get in and to stay away from the darkness.
Oh, talking about light, most neighbours on our short street have put up their Xmas lights a week ago. So we did the same yesterday, around a small front window (pic below), to keep up with the Joneses.
Wish you all a happy and cheerful Tuesday!
