Thankful for our friendship

This morning the first message from my dear friend on my phone simply said “Thankful for our friendship” in our group chat. And it immediately sets my day on the right track. 

 

I am thankful for my parents for pushing me to pursue higher education in the US.

I am thankful for the comfort it affords me.

I am thankful for the life I share with the people I love. 

 

I am thankful for my friends.

They shared all the gossip in school with me.

They let me cheat in word games because English is not my first language. 

They taught me slang, recipes, and where to find bargains.

They hugged me so tight when I was feeling alone and sad. 

They made me truly feel at home in a foreign land. 

 

I love you all.
