Why do people die if being poisoned by TTX?

Because TTX (a small molecule, weighing 319.27 Daltons) enters the sodium channel from the outside of the nerve binds the sodium channel in such a way to block the entrance of Na+ ions into the nerve, which is needed for the action potential. Without an action potential, the nerve could not control the muscle. The lung muscle, for an example, could not make a movement to inhale air. Without air, a man could probably die in 5 minutes. There is no antidote.
