Maturity is the best time of life.
This much used phrase (by those of us who are over 40) was the title of a book
published by American author W.B. Pitkin in 1932.

I don't know how a truism like this could only surface as late as 1932. It
couldn't be the first time.
I myself could testify. For me, it all started with an awakening to my dire
health at 40. The rest, as they say, is history, and thankfully I have recorded
the journey as best as I could.
