1. to bail

To stop doing something or leave a place before something is finished.

在某事還未結束之前停止或者離開。口語裏麵也用於“（等到最後一刻才）取消某個約會”，無法赴約，或者提前離開。注意在用於“放…鴿子”的時候需要加上一個介詞“on”，詳見第一個例句的運用。

Scarlett bailed on us, she said she had to take care of her sick kitty.
