在每一分鍾的時光裏 –蔣經國

 

當環繞在你周圍的人們，

失去了他們的理性，

並違背他們的良心，

將各種罪名加到你頭上來的時候，

必須格外保持你頭腦的冷靜和清醒。

When the people around you,

and without conscience,

如果有許多人，

都在懷疑你，

就讓他們去懷疑吧；

同時，更要相信你自己。

If there are many people,

let them doubt;

you have to believe more in yourself.

 

不要因為來不及等待而不耐煩，

亦不可受了別人的汙蔑而激憤。

如果苦惱的心到了崩潰的邊緣，

你還是耐心地去等待。

Don't be impatient because it's too hard to wait,

nor should you be incensed by the slander of others.

If the troubled heart is on the verge of collapse,

you still wait patiently.

 

假如你有一種理想，

切不可將夢境當作現實來看；

當你正在沉思什麽，

也不可存非非之念。

If you have an ideal,

never take dreams as reality;

when you are meditating on something,

There can be no misgivings either.

 

萬一被人無緣無故地妒忌，

切莫因此而畏怯。

更要小心翼翼地埋頭工作，

勿使鋒芒外露。

In case people envy you for no reason,

don't be intimidated by it.

Work more carefully,

and don't let your edge be exposed.

 

即使你所信仰的真理，

被歪曲，

成了哄騙他人的陷阱，

也得平心靜氣地保守你的信仰。

Even if the truth you believe in,

is distorted,

and be used to deceive others,

still keep your faith calmly.

 

一旦眼看你的成就將要被摧毀，

你還要振作精神。

拾起你鋒銳的利器，

在痛苦中重建新的根基。

As soon as you see that your achievements 

are about to be destroyed,

you still need to cheer up.

Pick up your sharp weapon,

and rebuild new foundations in pain.

 

不論是成功，

不論是失敗，

成功與失敗，

都要加以冷靜的看待。

whether you succeed,

or fail,

the success and failure,

should all be treated calmly.

 

當你與俗人相處的時候，

不可與人同流合汙。

當你與顯要者在一起，

不可失掉你平民的本色。

When you get along with the laity,

Don't just become one of them.

When you are with the dignitaries,

Do not bend yourself and lose your true color.

 

倘若你在每一分鍾的時光裏，

都能夠為人盡了最大的力量。

你自然會得到別人的信任。

If you live in every minute,

and do the best for the others,

you will naturally gain their trust.
