With how happy steps, O Moon, thou climb'st the skies!

How merrily, and with how sweet a face!

What, may it be that even in heav'nly place

That busy archer his mischievous arrows tries!

Sure, if that long-with love-acquainted eyes

Can judge of love, thou feel'st a lover's case,

I read it in thy looks; thy effervescent grace

To me, that feel the like, thy state descries.

I know, out of fellowship, O Moon, thou tell'st me,

Constant love is deem'd there also as a sign of wit.

Beauties there as modest as here they be.

They above love to be lov'd too, and respect

Those lovers whom that love doth possess.

They as well call virtue there gratefulness.
