《America the Beautiful》

To celebrate the national day of the United States, I post here an American song entitled “America the Beautiful” I sang last year.
It is one of the most recognizable patriotic song in the U.S., and it is almost as popular as its national anthem. With the even and steady rhythm as well as stretching and beautiful melody, this song exhibits its solemn and magnificent temperament. It praises the enchanting, colorful and vast land of the U.S. and the pioneering courage, entrepreneurial spirit and sacrifice of the American people, revealing American people's fiery patriotism.
When President Nixon visited China for the first time in 1972, Premier Zhou specially arranged for the military band to perform "America the Beautiful" in the welcoming banquet, which left a deep impression on Nixon, Kissinger and other American guests.
More than 100 years ago, this song's lyrics as a poem were written by Katharine Lee Bates and its music was composed by church organist and choirmaster Samuel Ward separately. The combination of Ward's melody and Bates's poem was first entitled "America the Beautiful" in 1910. Since then, the song has become one of the most popular U.S. patriotic songs.
