Recommend a biography of C. S. Lewis

Written by Alister McGrath. C. S. Lewis is the author of The Chronicles of Narnia. However I never read the series, nor did I watch the movies based on the series. I knew him from his book Mere Christianity. I am not a Christian, and may never become one. Somehow I enjoy reading New Testament and other books on Christianity. Lewis' Mere Christianity is my favorite non-biblical book on Christianity. My further research on C. S. Lewis led to discover the movie Shadow Lands, a emotionally moving romantic drama based on the real-life romance between C.S. Lewis and a divorced American poet named Joy Gresham. I highly recommend the movie as well. The biography's central theme is C. S. Lewis' conversion from an atheist to a christian. I believe the book is a very candid portrait of C. S. Lewis based on what I have read so far, about two thirds into the book. The author did not try to hide the impfect or even ugly sides of C. S. Lewis. For instance, the author honestly revealed C. S. Lewis' habitual lies to his father to obtain his father's financial support for his early adult life. I find the recount of C. S. Lewis' academic life and his interactions with other intellectuals on the Oxford campus very fascinating, especially his friendship with J. R. R. Tolkien who wrote The Lord Of The Rings. J. R. R. Tolkien was a key figure in C. S. Lewis' conversion from an atheist to a christian.
