I just wanted to share a few lines with you before we embark on a new journey together this year.
First of all, many, many thanks to those of you who have been working during the break -
whether directly with customers, on bids or generally keeping things going, your efforts are
even more appreciated as many of us were taking a pretty long break .
As I shared with some of you during the December catch up call, by the time we reached the
end of last year I was pretty much worn out, on my knees and running on empty. I know that I
was not alone and I truly hope that all of you were able to recharge your energy and strength
over the break.
As we move forward, I would ask each and every one of you to please reach out if you are too
stretched or under too much strain. No one needs to prove they are a super-hero or that they
are impervious to pressure and workload - we need to, and can be, smart in the way we adapt
to conditions, and helping each other is part of that. If we need to dial back and focus more,
then let’s do that, if there are things we can stop then please flag them. If individuals are
suffering under the weight of workload and other pressures, then let’s address the issues and
help. We can’t change everything, but we can try and improve where needed and possible.
This coming year will be different from 2020. It may or may not be easier (although I obviously
hope it will be...) but we will be armed with the lessons learned, the improvements and the
challenges we have come through together over the past 12 months.
There are many unknowns ahead, but one thing I am absolutely sure of is that the company is
full of genuinely good people capable of great things - and I’m confident that we will blossom
again through this new season.
