I didn't realize you brought up such a

serious and sad topic.  I had the experience with mental patients when I was very young and I can never forget.  People seldom realize when they get sick, and they tend to deny and pretend to live normally.  Some people knew they had issues and tried to resolve them on their own.  They may go somewhere alone, do something very hard to do for most people.  But they may or maynot succeed.

There are two very good books (with movies telling the same story), "Wild" and "Into the Wild".  Same kind of story but different outcomes.
