Friends是朋友，family是家庭，relatives是親人，你知道next of kin是什麽嗎？

看到的一個行業新聞的報導：

Authorities would not release the names of the men until their next of kin are notified, but said that both men, one 34 and the other 29 years of age, were from Iraq.

A person's next of kin (NoK) is that person's closest living blood relative or relatives. 活著的最親近的人。 It helps determine rights regarding inheritance（繼承權）in the legal system.

直係親屬：immediate family（口語）next of kin（法律定義）

Relative: 有血緣關係的親屬，如親生母親。Direct relative: 直係血親。

Kin: 不一定有血緣關係的親屬，如繼母，養母。

Next of Kin的法律定義：

• 在美國，有嚴格的定義，並且有按照嚴格先後次序確定的名單（服務於法律事務如遺產繼承權的確定、法律官司的評判等）。
• 在英國，沒有嚴格的定義。原則上任何人都可以指定為NoK。如在醫院搶救，病人可指定任何一個他信任的人作為NoK並由他負責一應事務。
