There is no absolute "right" or "wrong" version.  I feel language is all about understanding. If you feel you have sufficiently conveyed the messages of the poem. Then so be it.  I could be wrong.  Trust me, the same simple word, people may have completely different perception of its meaning, particularly us, whose first language is not English.
