對小釗的回應,並等待他的好作品

因本人不喜歡跟人爭論,加上最近很忙,所以本不想對小釗的點評作出具體回應。 Plumber要明天才來,他不來我也做不了什麽,今天仔細看了一下小釗的點評,在此作一個簡略回應。同時,我還在等待小釗的翻譯佳作,希望他不要保守。

小釗點評: 第二段:“就美而言,自然優於打扮,端莊、優雅勝於自然。此係美中極品”,原文motion一詞應該指的是言談舉止,而不隻是氣質的“端莊、優雅”,這就是為什麽下文說畫不出來,如果僅是端莊優雅的氣質,還是能畫出來的。“美中極品”也不妥,意思應該是“美之要旨所在”。
聚曦亭說明:真是如此!我們平時常說“舉止端莊、優雅”,端莊與優雅正是跟舉止搭配的。
 
小釗點評: 第三段:“大美者,其骨骼比例自有某些特征”,“某些特征”不妥,因為特征在中文裏意思並不是“特別的征象”,而是feature,原文是指由有異於常人之處、異象。
聚曦亭說明:proportion當然指人體的比例。西方繪畫講究解剖與透視法,所以這裏用“骨骼比例”非常恰當。
 
小釗點評:第三段:“此非意指畫工無法畫出前所未有之好像”,這一句中文讀起來有歧義,好像是畫工的作品比以前的作品都好,其實原文意思是“畫像並非不能勝於本人”。
聚曦亭說明:此兩人所追求的就是“前所未有之好像”(to make one excellent)
 
小釗點評: 第四段:“容貌,分而察之,難以悅目;合而觀之,卻能賞心。”,原文並不是泛指,而是指有些容貌(A man shall see faces你會看到有些臉是這種情況,世間幾多容貌),譯文變成泛稱所有容貌,道理上就講不通了,因為並不是所有容貌都是分而察之,一無是處。
聚曦亭說明:當然是泛指,所以用A man shall see faces,不帶定冠詞,不然就要用 the faces!
 
小釗點評: 第四段:"若美貌實出於端莊,溫文爾雅之氣質隨年歲倍增則不足為奇",對motion的理解,見1。
聚曦亭說明:已說明,見上。
 
小釗點評: 第五段:“老年出格”,out of countenance意思和“出格”相反。
聚曦亭說明:小釗看走了眼,countenance在這裏不作“麵容”解,而作Obsolete . bearing; behavior解,所以譯作“出格”。見www.dictionary.com第五條。
