TO BE HONEST,this is the second English book that I could read up to chapter 7...and yet some areas are still as clear as mud.(for the first one I didn't read the very last chapter because I decided to leave it with my imagination, but unfortunately I forgot to follow up and could not find where that book is now.)
Therefore, I think in that point of view regarding the driver and passengers raised by Dr. Wai Chee Dimock , maybe it is not yet my place to join the discussion. Maybe you are right, anything could happen in that era that bond and stocks unprecedentedly started to embody their charming power, just as it wouldn't be surprising to see a white chauffeur driving a limousine carrying 3 passengers who are black people. I am looking forward to seeing more of your ideas while going back to that chapter(got to check out to see which chapter) and get my thoughts straightened up a bit(maybe even more confused, who knows?)
