Graduate schools in the United States are reporting a nine percent increase(長音i舌頭再稍微壓住點就更好了） in applications from international students this year. The increase is the same as two years ago. Last year's gain was eleven percent.

China, Mexico and Brazil showed the biggest increases in applications to enter master's and doctoral programs this fall.

Engineering is the top area of study for international students（美音發長音u，st/u：/dent，英音發st/ju：/dent的音，你似乎發的英音。）and had the biggest increase in applications. Gains（這個/ei/似乎off了，/ei/是雙元音，以/i/結束，然後跟後麵的n，這個音我也發不好，很難。） in business and physical and earth sciences were close behind. The survey includes the top five countries that send graduate students to the United States, plus Mexico and Brazil. The top five are China, India, South Korea, Taiwan and Canada.
