Graduate schools in the United States are reporting a nine percent increase(長音i,似乎舌頭買壓住,聽著像/ei/的音,後麵幾個都一樣) in applications from international students(美音發u的音,不發類似/ju/的音) this year. The increase is the same as two years ago. Last year's gain(這個我說不好,跟原讀比較一下,或查查字典。) was eleven percent.
China, Mexico (好像沒聽到ks的k的音)and Brazil showed the biggest increases in applications to enter master's and doctoral programs this fall.
Engineering is the top area of study for international students and had the biggest increase in applications. Gains in business and physical and earth sciences(不應該是s/e/s的音,可以弱化稱s/schwa/s )were close behind. Life sciences showed no growth in the latest survey by the Council of(可連讀) Graduate Schools.
The survey includes the top five countries that send graduate students to the United States, plus Mexico and Brazil. The top five are China, India, South Korea, Taiwan and Canada.
