A friend of mine was raised in Canada

He is Vietnamese born Chinese. He was 6 when he first came to Canada, and I found that his English has slight Chinese accent as well. I mean his family members speak Cantonese and Vietnamese at home so his English accent has been influenced somewhat. People say that accents can be eliminated completely, and I believe that we can have it minimized enough if we keep doing what we are doing. Give you five!
