I hesitated about that sentence too, I thought about using "go fasting"? "go fast"? Anyway, Lent is a time for fasting and abstinence, by denying ourselves of luxuriance, we get to realize what's more important in life. There is a hunger in our soul that could not be filled by regular food or drink.
