欲望禁區“瀑布”
人一出生就帶著七情六欲而來，人的一生就是與欲望周旋鬥爭的曆史。有的人在這場鬥爭中練成無欲則剛的英雄。有的人則一敗塗地，最後放棄抵抗。更可悲的是，在欲望麵前不是每個失敗者有重新站起來的機會，很多人隻能延著欲望的階梯走向可以預見的毀滅。
1995年， 美國黑人組合 TLC (T-Boz, Left eye, Chilli) 推出了歌曲 “瀑布” (waterfalls) ， 講述了兩個因為欲望而讓人絕望的故事。
故事選取了人類社會最普通，最原始也最讓人難以抵製的兩種欲望：錢和色。在第一個故事裏，一個年輕人不原意用最誠實的勞動換取財富，選擇了以最容易的方式獲取最豐厚的回報。這條通往天堂的捷徑也是通往地獄的快車道，雖然歌曲並未道明，但肯定是違背法律和良心的交易，年輕人很快死於非命，橫屍街頭。第二個故事裏，一個年輕人沉湎於美色而不能自拔。在這場性愛與健康的拔河中，年輕人人日漸消瘦，最終被“三個字母”帶到死神的身邊。
副歌 (chorus) 部分，演唱者不斷告誡人們最好待在自己熟悉的河流與湖邊，不要追尋貌似美麗的瀑布，因為瀑布的魅惑下往往隱藏著暗流湧動的深潭，歌曲中的瀑布代表的是一切將人引向毀滅的誘惑，如錢，色，權，或者單純的身心享樂，如毒品。歌中所唱的河流與湖水，意指生命中那些最樸實，最簡單的幸福與快樂。雖然這些快樂不會讓人縱情聲色，甚至要靠艱苦的勞動獲得，它卻是人類身心愉悅的源泉。
“瀑布”一經推出就得到廣大聽眾認可，曾在 Billboard 排行榜上蟬聯七周冠軍。遺憾的是，正當組合 TLC如日中天之時，演唱著之一 Lopes 卻在 2002年的一場車禍中喪失，令人惋惜不已。(文_張儀)
