Japan’s Nikkei 225 index fell 2%, and Hong Kong’s Hengsheng index slumped nearly 5% at the closing bell. The stock markets in Seoul, Sidney, and Shanghai also dropped at least 2% at the closing bell on Thursday. The major stock markets in Europe declined by at least 3% in noon trade.
