With the rapid development of our society, people start to realize the importance of our next generation to the future of the country. Some people even suggest that the government should spend more of its budget on very young children rather than on universities. However, for the following reasons, I believe the government must focus more on universities to best use its limited resources.

First of all, the nature of elementary school and the university is quite different. The elementary education is more of a generalized training. Children in the school try to learn all the skills;from reading, writing, math, singing, drawing to even dancing; but all of them are in a basic stage. Because an elementary school is meant to lay a solid foundation for the children and (to) prepare them for the advanced and specialized training in the future, the school's monetary needs are limited. On the other hand, the university's mission is to help their students to be specialized and advanced experts in particular fields. In order to achieve their goal, the universities may need a large amount of funds to pay the salaries of very best professors and purchase cutting edge equipment. These will allow their students to pursue their study and to conduct advanced researches and experiments.

More importantly, universities play an important role in our society compared with elementary school. For example, some government or company have many collaborative projects with universities, which not only give the students chances to put their learning in practical use, but also help develop our country in many aspects.

Without sufficient funds, these simply will not happen. No need to mention that millions of students will graduate from universities and join the workforce every year. Like the fresh blood in the vein, they are the motor and fuel for the development of our country. If the universities fail to keep high standards because of a lack of money, then it would be a total disaster for our country’s future.

Last but not least, university has a positive potential for the education of very young children. According to some research, parents with a higher education level tend to cultivate learning in children better. So if the government can put enough effort on keeping the high quality of university education, it will indirectly improve the education of our children as a whole.

I agree that Children's education is also important;however, due to university’s unique nature, contribution to the society, and positive potential for the education of very young children, I think government should focus its budget more on universities.
