Thanks a lot for your input. I did not mention that I am Houston Metro, TX. I checked all the CVS, Walgreen, Target, Walmart, HEB etc on my way home, none of them was open. In Christmas Day evening, when pain began to strike me in a intolerable manner, my wife called the ER, where I was just discharged. I was admitted to that ER one week earlier. I thought it did not make much sense: last ER costed me $2000.
The surgery was finished at around 2 PM. With IV fluid at around 100 ml/hour, I woke up at 10:50 PM due to bladder pain caused by its fullness. One nurse did not know how to use catheter, one nurse refused to use because my doctor did not order that service. I was told that urination difficult might be from the anaesthesia effect and try to urine again after one hour or two. Once they left my room, I tried a long period and could not release a single drop of urine. At round Mid night, I called the nurse again, telling her my bladder was about to burst. She brought a scanner to check my bladder: you had 1000 ml. She then called my doctor to order the catheter service. A full bottle of urine was released: more than 1000 ml. My point is: this kind of pain is completely avoidable, it not necessary at all.
I am not complaining the infection. The infection was from the bacteria in residual stool in colon (verified). My concern is the surgeon should open the above wound as well even though it was not as bad as the below one: he knows that even open wound would cure better than a surface stitched one. He used non-sterile gauze sponge, not like sterile gauze sponge in the Hospital to save without considering possible infection.
