Thank you very much! Actually my old DS2019 form does not expire until the end of this July. So you mean, I can cancel the current J1 extension and transfer to H1 ASAP?

In addition, why 'if the extension starts, I have to return back China for two years' residency' even if I get the waiver? -- Because the extension of last 6 months must mean one will return back after that?
