Sorry, 86 master,
my bad for the miscommunication.
My questions are:
I know many J1 holders from University professor hired can be waivered. However, my situation is that I got the postdoc followship from NIH, but hosted by Yale University (e.g. the salary, title and mentor are totally through Yale university), do you think I am an NIH employee?
-Lets use "J-1 Sponsor", not employer. So, your J-1 sponsor is Yale Univ who issued your the DS-2019 and thus, the International Scholar Office at Yale should assist you to process the J-1 waiver and it does not matter where you got the funds to support your stipend and research.
But obviously Yale doesn't think I am its employee, so they put me as a self-employed postdoc.
Also will I be denied J1 waiver because I am funded by NIH?
-No.
Thank you again!
