The case of f06li is different from your case. Given your situation, the CBP officer did not make any mistake to give your son a short stay period, because your H-1 was expiring at ６月底, right?

You have already done your best to extend, and the petition even reached USCIS prior to its expiration date. You're on the ground to be free of "out of status".

The last return of your petition is really wired. Was it returned to you by USCIS (in such case, there should a blue paper inside), or simply returned by USPS?
