Your wife can come back on H4 any time and file 485

either with you or separtely (before your 485 is approved). Of course, you have option for consular processing by file 824 after 140 is approved. Even after your 485 is approved, your wife can still do consular process through follow to join (ouside the US) or 485 (inside the US)
