Your test result is negative. This means the test did not find the COVID-19 virus. But, you could have negative results and still have COVID-19. Please read below to find out what you need to do next.

 

What should I do next?

 

If you were tested for COVID-19 because you are scheduled for a procedure or surgery at xxxx:
 

• Please keep your appointment. Your doctor and care team will have your test results, so you do not need to tell them.

 

If you were tested for COVID-19 because you were within 6 feet of someone with COVID-19 for at least 15 minutes, even though your test was negative, you should:
 

• Quarantine (stay away from other people) for 14 days from the last day you were around the person with COVID-19.
• Stay at home.
• Wear a face mask, even around the people you live with.
• Wash your hands often.
• Clean high-touch surfaces in your home often.

 

If you were tested for COVID-19 because you have symptoms of COVID-19, even though your test was negative, you should:
 

• Wear a face mask, even when you are around the people you live with.
• Wash your hands often.
• Avoid direct contact with others until your symptoms are better and you do not have a fever for at least 24 hours (1 day).

 

If you were tested for COVID-19 and you have not been within 6 feet of someone with COVID-19 for more than 15 minutes and you do not have symptoms, you should:
 

• Try to stay at least 6 feet away from other people.
• Wear a face mask when you are with someone who does not live with you.
