Most likely it is Osgood-Schlatter Disease because it will last for kids' growth period, for girls to 14 years old and boys to 16 years old, when they complete their adolescent growth spurt. My kids had those issues but they grew out of it afterwards and now it is no problem at all. However, you need to have them refrain from extreme excercises/sports/activities and take ibuprofen if occasionally they encounter excessive pain. Besides, they proudly told friends their condition because the pronounciation is cool.
