Many of you question the predicted cancer incidence of 200,000. It is probabably based on health risk assessment.

Cancer Risk = Dose X Cancer Potency Factor

So the 200,000 is a probability of number of children developing cancer based on our knowledge on toxicicology of chemicals and levels exposed.

It is not based on epidemology data of how many childre have cancer as a result of exposure to formaldehyde in building material. It is impossible to seperate added cancer effecs of formaldehyde from other carcinogenens in the environment and food, such as benzene (Class A Human carcinogen), many carcinogens in air pollution: arsenic (Human carcinogen), PAHs, car exhaust, heavy metals, pesticides, herbicides, dioxins in food, water and air... The list goes on and on.

Infants and yound children are the most vulnerable population to pollution, being exposed to toxic air in their home for a long time everyday is like in a toxic chamber (at low dose). Those earlier life exposure have long, irrevesible health effects through their life.

The bottom line, understand what your building material, paint, furniture are and where they come from. Don't save money on cheap material from China (or Chinese contractor). Buy staff from HomeDepot and Lowes, which ban lots of known bad chemicals in building material or paint.
