美國病人眼中良醫的七大特點：

Confident（自信）: "The doctor's confidence gives me confidence."

Empathetic（同情）: "The doctor tries to understand what I am feeling and experiencing, physically and emotionally, and communicates that understanding to me."

Humane（人道/體貼）: "The doctor is caring, compassionate, and kind."

Personal（人性化）: "The doctor is interested in me more than just as a patient, interacts with me, and remembers me as an individual."

Forthright（坦誠）: "The doctor tells me what I need to know in plain language and in a forthright manner."

Respectful（尊重）: "The doctor takes my input seriously and works with me."

Thorough（細致）: "The doctor is conscientious and persistent."

文中指出，雖然病人在尋找好醫生時總是把醫術放在第一位，但是大多病人實際上很難準確判斷醫生的醫術和能力。因此，他們往往用這7項指標作為醫術的替代指標，來衡量醫生的好壞。
