no causes have been identified. A few years ago, a scientist from USA detected a retrovirus in patients with SFD and publised in the Science magzine. However it was later found that the virus was due to contamination. The paper was retracted and the sicenist was fired. Some people simply do not admit the disease and think the patients are lazy.
