Natural Remedies for Leg Inflammation

Having trouble with leg inflammation? Looking for natural treatment or alternative therapy for inflammation? Just a few months ago, I found myself looking at legs that should belong to my grandmother. Rheumatoid arthritis combined with sitting at a desk for a living had my legs screaming for natural remedies. Here are some natural remedies for inflammation that I found helpful.

Omega 3 Fatty Acids
As a vegetarian, I was not getting enough of these powerful amino acids. Omega 3 is normally derived from oily fish such as salmon. I was happy to find an omega 3 supplement derived from flax seed. Omega 3 builds anti-inflammatory prostaglandins. Omega 3 also stops the break down of joint cartilage. Since beginning a regimen of daily Omega 3 as a natural treatment for inflammation, I have seen marked improvement in both leg inflammation and joint pain.

Water
In my search for natural remedies for leg inflammation I came across one that was no surprise. For years I have been a soda pop addict, drinking water only when nothing else was available. This bad habit was causing me to be dehydrated, which is the worst thing you can do when leg inflammation is a problem. Drinking plenty of water is one of the most effective natural remedies for inflammation. Once I switched from soda pop to water, there was a huge difference in the condition of my legs.

Exercise
Working at a computer desk all day had increased my leg inflammation as well. Exercise promotes healthy circulation. Exercise is a very effective alternative therapy for inflammation. Getting up and moving around in between writing sessions has given me a new set of legs. Remember the old saying, "Use it or lose it"? That saying rings true when speaking of natural treatment for leg inflammation and pain.

Massage
My alternative therapy for leg inflammation includes a daily leg massage. Massaging the legs keeps circulation working to flush toxins from the legs. Not everyone is lucky enough to have a partner like mine who is willing to do this for them. Luckily, self massage is effective as a natural treatment for inflammation. I often massage my legs as I am working at the computer to promote proper circulation and keep away inflammation. Keeping my legs supported and raised helps too.

Green Tea
Is there anything green tea can't do to promote good health? Green tea is a powerful alternative therapy for leg inflammation. Green tea encourages proper hydration and also helps with weight loss. The antioxidant properties of green tea are a natural treatment for leg inflammation. Add green tea to a proper diet and you have one of the best natural remedies for leg inflammation. Overweight individuals often have a harder time with leg inflammation than their thinner counterparts.
