I met a guy in gym some time ago. Like any serious students starting to learn something new, he carried a small notebook as training log, on which he carefully designed a plan to guide him to complete such and such assignments in one session.
I wanted to tell him that would not work. But I knew people were too entrenched with the cliche of "hard work pays off", "you got to have a plan to track your progress", so I refrained from saying anything. He continued to finish all the tasks on his list, not without pain and discipline. But I knew this approach would not last long, as it was against human nature.
In the subsequent weeks I occasionally spotted him a few times, probably because he still had the last bit of passion and discipline. Since then, I never saw him.
