I know how to check memory size (but don't want to tell my sister all as she is not so comfortable with BIOS, etc.)

So, according to your story, it looks like if there were any shared video memory used from total memory, System will automatically deduct that shared video memory from total physical memory unless you change your CMOS settings. That's really something new for me.
