“Good job” in your eyes is good, and

good job in the eyes of A or B is better.

A and B have their own agendas. You should know what they are.

You follow a standard that is outside of you, like most decent people.  A and B follow a standard that is inside of themselves (most managers behave this way, in different degrees). You need to find a balance between the two (standards).

If they consider your "good job" as an affront to their leadership, you should know ahead of time.

Are the "barriers" there by design? Or, everyone has done his/her best?
