My dearest Self:

What can you say to a quickly vanishing year?! Indeed, the year 2016 has not been among your better ones.  The injuries, the insults on top of them, and what-not! It all adds up to a year of chaotic, messy 365 days - one more year tacked on to your increasingly more depressing number that is age.

Well, all is not lost - a self-solute is in order!  After all, you just toughed out another stormy leg on your life journey - you carried your own load, you walked every mile with your own two feet, and you are still standing.  Please do treat yourself better in 2017!  It is you, and only you, who truly love yourself.  Life is short, so do live a little - what matters is not how long one lives, but how one lives, period!  Should the deck of cards we call life deal you another ugly deuce, accept it with a hearty cheer, taking comfort in knowing that things could only look up from there.

Dearest, you are the best, and you deserve no less from this world.
