The best way, almost the only way, to find a sick note of your parents, and to request to go back to China for a while, go back to China to rest for 6 months, and come back to finish the research. The guy I knew couldn't graduate, and had a big fight with his Professor. Eventually, found another nice professor, in another university, who took him. He took another extra two years obtained his Dr. degree.
By the way, I don't know if this is true. 幾乎眾所周知的大學‘潛規則’是博士導師不希望已經有經驗能在實驗室獨當一麵的博士生畢業。 I doubt it.
