shall I resign now or wait for fire off

Had a talk with Boss today. The message he delivered is "I am nervious that if you get another insufficient perferomence , HR will come in and have a talk with you" I asked what that means, he said that means you'll have to leave.  He hinted that it will probably be 2~3 weeks before that. So My question is Shall I resign now or wait for fire off happen? I have been working on looking for new jobs. however, I might not be able to get a job in 2~3 weeks, besides, I need to sharpen my interview skills. I wonder will other company find a record if I am fired off?  Thanks!
