and loyalty, so it is not necessarily bad. However, he does need to prepare a good explanation why he got laid off. That is the first question people will ask - you stayed there for more than 10 years, why left? Not quite sure, but I was told right now in Canada the economy is not doing very well, so company downsizing or company not doing well could be the reason.
What most important is still the skills he has and values he can bring to the table. Needs to try more, specifically if the economy is not doing well. Typically after written up, he will be laid off soon, just from what I saw from US here.
