It is not a big deal to do what you did, because you want to choose the best for you. The hunters won't be happy, but should be OK. 1. You are still their potential/future candidate. 2. I think it should be their business ethic to not interrupt your future career choice.

I am sure you are not the first one that quit before they get their money. They will get over it.
