Yes. You can actually request the copy of the background check when it is completed.
Here is one example.
Information provided by the candidate:
-------------------------------------------
Employer Name: x
Location: x
Employee Name: x
Job Title: Software Engineer
Dates Employed: 01/01/2001-10/10/2006
Reason for leaving: Laid Off
Information Verified:
---------------------------------------------
Employer Name: x
Location: x
Employee Name: x
Job Title: System Programmer
Dates Employed: 01/01/2001-10/10/2002
Reason for leaving: No longer employed
As you can see the verified data doesn't have to match the information provided by the candidate. It is up to the decision makers to interpret the results.
My feeling is that your background check should be OK since most Chinese are very conservative. If there is one month difference in your employment history for a particular company, it is not a big deal since you might forget when you left, however if the gap is fairly significant, that can be an issue.
My recommendation is that you need to relax and be patient since there is not much you can do right now. However be prepared to explain any concerns the hiring managers may have, and be very careful next time, it is a lesson to learn.
Also request a copy of the background check so next time you will know for sure what you can say, and what you can't.
