to find out if you were fired or not unless you told them. Legally the HR is not allowed to tell the former employee's performance, though the HR can only provide information regarding if you have worked for the company and from when and for how long.

So no need to be panic.

If you are asked why your job was terminated, just tell them you had been laid off b/c company was doing re-organization and you were affected.
