Just think about it, you don't report to/work for HR, and nobody in HR knows you, who in HR would care about you? This is just the company's policy to welcome new employee and it is the job that is assigned to HR.
Some more advices:
1). when you start to work in your new company, especially the first 6 months, always assume others would treat you as an ordinary person and you yourself should do the same thing.
2). Listen carefully, take notes if necessary, and memorize things that are important or could affect you.
3). Don't speak too much. The less the better, unless you absolutely need to do so, such as defending yourself -- which never hesitate to do so
