If I were you, I'd try to take the high road.

Do  the right thing for the company. If they offer you a chance to fix the problem for this project, and you indeed can fix it, I think it is a good idea to take over and get it done the way you planed long ago.
I think there is nothing wrong in having higher standard. However, how to present your idea to others is another story.The key is to stay focus on what matters for this project and  not take anything personally. You want to make people believe that you are a team player and you are not here to point fingers. Your goal is to work with everyone and fix the problem together.
