那我就說個例子吧!

我從科大畢業時,有一片第二作者的文章,已經將進入the process of taking care of the comments form reviewing peers...later on, when the paper was published, I read my name became the third author and my advisor emailed me that he would like me to understand that the person who became the "second author" "was in need of another paper to meet the requirement for graduation".  這個”頂名“的師兄,我也是認識的,人很好,很聰明,對我學用微軟的東東打了很好的基礎。I never had any negative comments to him nor my advisor for them to do so, my feeling of "understand the situation" or "sympathy" might be there.  but I was very "impressed" how it could happen that way, in US, it's simply against the authorship guidance and US professors have been dealing with it with caution, or with over-caution, because scandal could kill off their funding resource...

My classmates and a few postdoc who chose to go back China to work in academic field, sometimes gave me examples of 放水,同情...which make academic education complicated in addition to the "objective achievement" (on another side, there is nothing absolutely "objective")

But overall, I don't feel here is the place to "judge a situation with preponderance of evidence...", don't take the chatting and experience sharing that serious...we all have different experience so that our perspective and conclusion might be different.  Then it's hoped that we can take the positive common points to make our career advanced in the positive direction.

Have a nice weekend!
