I just experienced the similar situation, maybe worse than yours. :-)
Here are my suggestions.
If you like the current job/team a lot, then go to take the course and do a lot of work, like sending emails to them which is a proof of your proactive communications, organizing meetings with them regularly. All these can be a good evidence of your attitude as a professional team player.
If you do not like the current job/team, then go to find a job. I would say that there must be a more suitable job for your talent.
For my situation, I do not like it and I have the legal identity to stay. I choose to find/get another job while starting to do my own business. I would admit that there is no easy choice. But at least there is a choice which makes you happier.
