Someone in another group asked for help from me today and I did and when she asked me to do more that could takes more time, I suggested that "I think I need to ask my manager about my schedule today first, since i am in middle of getting results that he has been waiting for". then she said with madness "are you out of your mind? Is he your parent? I am gonna report it to our director!". I was completely shocked! It turned out (other colleagues were there and talked with me later) that there might be some tension between her group and my group at the managing level, since I just started at my current position for a few months, I don't know anything about that.
I took the 1st and the 3rd sentence nothing, since they were not handled professionally. I just have not felt ok for the 2nd sentence, which is very insulting for me personally. My parents are living with me and in their 70's and this colleague is a Chinese too.
What should I do?
what should I do?
